Housebuilder Bellway has started construction on a new development of homes in the next phase of the Kings Hill community near West Malling.
The 70-home development, named Lysander Fields after the Westland Lysander World War II aircraft, will contain a mix of two-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses.
The first properties at Lysander Fields are set to go on sale on 14th November, while the first residents are scheduled to move in next year.
More than 3,500 new homes have been built at Kings Hill since the re-development of the former West Malling Airfield started in 1990. A new business park with one million sq ft gross of commercial floorspace has also been created as well as three new schools and 23 retail units.
The new phase of Kings Hill is a scheme of 350 new homes – which received planning permission in February this year – split between three housebuilders, including Bellway.

“The name of the new development was inspired by the Westland Lysander aircraft – based at RAF West Malling during the Second World War and used for photo-reconnaissance sorties over occupied Europe – tying together the old and new.
“We have now started the first phases of construction at Lysander Fields where we will be delivering 70 homes. The site will be launched to the public on 14th November, on an appointment-only basis, and we hope to welcome the first residents in their new homes in 2021.”
A selection of two, three and four-bedroom homes will be released for sale at Lysander Fields in early November.
