LIVE IN KINGS HILL
HOME GROWN
The history of allotments stretches back more than ten thousand years. They have been in and out of favour over the centuries but the ancient call to share common land is woven strongly into British life.

Liberty and Kent County Council have donated land for allotments to the people of Kings Hill.

The Big Allotment Challenge

Allotments expert Jim Buttress first came to Kings Hill as a judge for South & South East in Bloom and has been part of the landscape ever since.

Why do you want to go to the supermarket to buy a bag of tomatoes when you can pick one right off the vine and pop it straight into your mouth?

Through his television show – The Big Allotment Challenge – he has met growers all around the country: from schoolchildren inspired by their first plots to veterans who began growing veg when Kings Hill’s skies were filled with World War II Spitfires and Hurricanes.

The allotments are managed by the Parish Council and anyone interested in renting one should register with the council. Allotments are allocated via a waiting list. Demand was so strong that Liberty Property Trust and Kent County Council donated further land.
